Reprove Works of Darkness

Is it better to be politically correct or spiritually correct?

During my bible study today, this verse stood out to me.

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.” Ephesians 5:11

Lets start our understanding with some definitions:

According to Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary to “reprove” means to:

  • to scold or correct
  • to express disapproval of
  • to express rebuke

According to online Web Results, to “express” means to:

  • to put (thought) into words; utter or state: to express an idea clearly.
  • to show, manifest, or reveal: to express one’s anger.
  • to set forth the opinions, feelings, etc., of (oneself), as in speaking, writing, or painting: He can express himself eloquently.
  • to represent by a symbol, character, figure, or formula: to express water as H 2 O; to express unknown quantities algebraically.
  • to send by express: to express a package or merchandise.
  • to press or squeeze out: to express the juice of grapes.
  • to exude or emit (a liquid, odor, etc.), as if under pressure: The roses expressed a sweet perfume.
  • Genetics. (of a gene) to be active in the production of (a protein or a phenotype).

Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary says that “political correctness” is “agreeing with the idea that people should be careful to not use language or behave in a way that could offend a particular group of people.”

Usually to be politically correct, we are expected to not express, not correct, and “overlook” darkness so we don’t offend others.  People are usually forced into political correctness by those in power.  Those in power usually control the financial rewards or punishment, such as  controlling the money or accessibility to resources, employment, raises for job performance, etc and are able to invoke financial punishment or removal of resources on those who don’t comply.

Political correctness might be in relation to a conversation that relates to a job, gender, school curriculum, sports, community programs, sexual orientation, or topics such as abortion, sexual immorality, rituals, holidays, marital affairs, worship of other gods and goddesses, etc.

So now we see that political correctness and spiritual correctness are not the same.  They are usually opposites of each other.  To overlook evil for the sake of not offending someone is not what we are instructed to do in the scriptures, and for good reason.  Political correctness is the opposite of love.  Though it may look like a loving thing to avoid offense, it is actually the opposite of true love.

As children of Father God and followers of his Son Jesus Christ, we cannot stay quiet about works of darkness.  Works of darkness are unfruitful and will lead to an eternity separated from God.  Our fruit will be judged, and we are warned not to participate in darkness, but to remain children of the light.

We are told to rebuke and correct works of darkness and lovingly pull our brothers (and sisters) from the fire ahead that results from sin before it is too late to save their souls from eternal damnation.  We are to lovingly and sternly warn them of what is up ahead at eternity so they can come out of darkness, repent, be saved by Jesus, and be transformed in to a new being.  They can be transformed by the Spirit of God and the renewing of their mind that is no longer in darkness, but now abides in light, the light of Father God and his Son.

When you read this verse in context, it’s meaning in this passage of scripture becomes even more clear.

Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;

And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour.

But fornication (sexual immorality), and all uncleanness, or covetousness (wanting stuff and wanting what others have), let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting (mock, idle tale, tease, or witty remark), which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

For this ye know, that no whoremonger (sex outside of marriage, or one who has sex with a prostitute), nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater (one who has idols or man made gods or puts their trust in man made systems and creations), hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

Be not ye therefore partakers with them.

For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;

Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.

Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.”   Ephesians 5:1-17

It is clearly wiser to be spiritually correct.

May we understand what it means to wake up to the truth, to walk as the wise, obey the commandments of Father God, reprove unfruitful works, walk in the light, walk in true love, and understand the will of the Lord God our creator.

Be wise and be blessed!

God Is Light, And In Him Is No Darkness At All

I came across this passage during my bible study.  God is light.  This is a message for everyone.

God is light, and in him is no darkness at all

This verse comes from 1 John 1: 1-9

“That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

God wants us to be in fellowship with him and walk in his light.  But to do so, we must believe he sent his Son to us and confess our sins to him so that we can be in the light of his presence.  Forgiveness comes when we believe through faith in Father God who loved us and that he sent his Son Jesus Christ to die in our place, and we confess our sins to him and accept his forgiveness.  The bible says he will forgive us when we ask and then we can walk in fellowship with the light who is God our heavenly Father.

It reminds me of another passage of scripture about the love of God and light: John 3:16-21

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.  He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.  For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.”

Be wise and be blessed!

Happy Memorial Day

I hope you have a wonderful Memorial Day filled with joy!

I hope you are able to spend this day with Family and Friends and time to reflect on those who gave their lives for preservation of freedom and justice.

There are many families around the world hurting at this time following World Wide Flooding and the Hurricane that recently hit Texas, USA. More hurricanes and floods are expected.  Several locations around the world are also dealing with massive forest fires, mudslides, and earth quakes.  Please remember these people in your prayers and help where you are able.

Whatever you do to day, also remember Father God (Yahuah) our Creator, and his only begotten son (Yahusha) our savior.   Some call Father God’s name Yweh or Lord.  This was the name of Baal in biblical times.  Some call the Son of God’s name Yeshua, and most people today call him Jesus.  I grew up calling him Jesus and that is what I have known him by for 40+ years.  But I have now learned this is not his true name.  What others like myself may not know and will be surprised to learn is that many years ago (1628 A.D.), those in powerful positions changed his name to “Jesus” in the bible writings when they reprinted the bible scriptures to confuse people and call him by a pagan god’s name.  They are calling him son of Zeus, or Baal, who goes by many pagan names.  This truth was very upsetting to me when I learned this, to know this lie had been done and people have been deceived for the past 400+/- years.  Up to this time in history, his name was written as Yahuah and Yahusha and everyone who followed Father God knew this as the name of the Father and the Son.  The true name can still be seen in the earlier print additions of the bible. However, once the name was changed in the reprinted editions, the deception has remained ever since.

Father God signed his name, his true name signed with his own finger, in stone on the Ten Commandments so we would know the truth.  Father God’s name is Yahuah.  His son came in his Father’s Name Yahusha (Yahuah Saves).

Keep your light shining bright and stay ready for his return.  He told us in the gospels written in the bible to be watching and he told us what the world would look like when his return is near.  He gave us several things to watch for including the similarities between the days Noah, Lot, Daniel, and Jonah lived on the earth.  His message is woven throughout the scriptures, but we can see clearly the details we must watch for in the bible books of Genesis, Daniel, Isaaiah, Jude, Matthew, Luke, Thessalonians, and Revelation.  His return is now closer than ever.

If you don’t know him yet, pray to Father God to show you the truth about his son.  Call on him and he will answer you.  Seek and you will find. Repent of your sins, believe in his name because he has been given the power to overcome everything in heaven and earth.  He can deliver and save and he can also cast souls into hell for eternity.  Fear his name.  Call on him.  He came in his Father’s name and he will freely give eternal life to all who call on him, believe who he is, repent of sins, forgive those who have done you wrong, and obey his instructions.

His instructions are to love Father God with all your heart, love your neighbor as yourself, and keep the 10 rules his Father gave us to live by, and produce good fruit with your life.  He will give you the Holy Spirit to help you live by these rules and produce good fruit.

The 10 Rules the Father gave us consist of 2 things to “do” (YOU WILL) and 8 things to “not do” (SHALL NOT).   When we violate these basic rules, we go beyond the boundaries our Creator set for us, and we loose our peace that he freely gives to all who will come to him and obey.  Be sure to read more in my post on Perfect Peace.

  1. You shall not have other gods before Me.
  2. You shall not make idols. Do not make any images of anything above the earth, in the earth, or below. Do not put your trust and affection in any man made thing.
  3. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
  4. You will keep the Sabbath day holy. 6 days you will labor and the 7th day is blessed and belongs to Father God. (The 7th day pattern begins each month at the first sighting of the moon. There are 4 -7th day Sabbath rests each month. The 7 day pattern cycles again for the next month at the first sighting of the moon. This is our Heavenly Father’s weekly and monthly calendar.)
  5. You will honor your father and your mother.
  6. You shall not murder.
  7. You shall not commit adultery.
  8. You shall not steal.
  9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
  10. You shall not covet. Do not desire your neighbor’s house. Do not desire your neighbor’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant. Do not desire your neighbors ox, nor his donkey, nor any thing that belongs to your neighbor.

Producing good fruit means that through love for Father God, and love for your fellow man, you reach out and help those in need by feeding the hungry, visit the orphan and widow, shelter the homeless, showing kindness to the stranger, heal the sick, visit those in prison, cast out demons from the oppressed, and set the captive free.

Yahusha said that when you do these things in love for the least of people (those who go unnoticed), that you have done it unto him and he will remember.  He also said others would know you are his follower by your love.  This is pure worship of Father God and what he truly desires from us. Pure worship is not religion, not politics, and not vain or pride.  He said he gave each of us “A Spirit of Love, Power, and Sound Mind“.  He also said “The Truth Will Set You Free“.  He will show you the way when you seek him first in your life above all else.

Look Up

Thinking about the reunion.
It will be soon.
I hope you will be there.
When we meet the groom.

His dad sent the invitations.
I received mine and accepted.
I proclaimed my reservation to all who were receptive.

Some were willing to hear his message,
But not all appreciated the simple package.

Some laughed and said “about the return of Jesus you must be confused.
There are no miracles today, the prophets died long ago,
and the return of the groom is a long way away.
We would have heard it in our grand churches and in our pews.
Such an invitation would have come from the pastors with mega buildings,
fine words, and also those on TV who speak the news.”

Others hearts were too hard for the seed to penetrate.
Their hearts were filled with pride, bitterness, and hate.
Some laughed and said they’re busy and earning reputations and money
They would rather choose their own path rather than the path of one who willingly hung on a tree for you and me.

Many heard the news but most failed to make room.
Their calendars too full to pencil in the feast with the groom.
His Dad tried again, and again.
To remind them the appointed time of the wedding was soon.

Busy lives and reservations unanswered
But the Father’s love would not be hindered.
So he sent out more.  He even knocked on each door,
Before the end begins, He sent more messengers.
He is still calling and waiting for their answers.

It is just about time.
I am ready to go.  I can’t wait!
Be ready. Keep your lamps full and burning bright.
Look up. To this wedding we won’t be late!

Be Blessed Dear Friends.
Look up!  The time is drawing near for the return of Jesus for his bride.

And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said,
“The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son, And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come. Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage. But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise: And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them. But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy. Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage. So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests. And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment: And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. For many are called, but few are chosen.” Matthew 22:1- 14

Nuggets of Wisdom

The word of God written in the bible is full of FREE nuggets of wisdom. These nuggets are worth more than silver or gold!  Yet they are FREE!

In my bible study today, I was reading in Ecclesiastes and came across some nuggets of wisdom that are not the usual advice about how to live life that you might expect to see.  However, if you take a close look you just might find your life in contrast, especially if you live in a wealthy modern society. I think these passages represent a profound truth usually missed by most people.

Increase Wealth

This book in the bible was written by the man who is said to have had the most wisdom and riches of any man who ever lived.  He is also a man who made many many mistakes.  He wrote this book during a time of deep self examination.

I summarized from Ecclesiastes 1-5  especially 5: 9-20.

If we try to increase our abundance of things, we will never be satisfied.  Our “pursuit of abundance” will result in vanity.

When increase comes to us, we should use what we need to live with joy and share the rest with family and friends.  When increase from the earth comes, it is for all those who labor as well as for the king.  All are to enjoy the fruit (increase) of the labor.  When blessings come, they are for everyone to enjoy, not for one person or a few persons, to hoard.

The only blessing in this life that we have on earth that is of any lasting value is to have joy while we eat and drink and enjoy our family, and be happy with the work of our labor.  Everything else, every pursuit of anything else in life is vanity and will perish.

Everything else including trying to increase your possessions will vex (curse) your spirit and cause illness and cause you to loose sleep at night.  Nothing we can build will bring us lasting happiness and we will die naked the same way we were born with nothing in our hands.

This nugget of truth is the opposite of what we are taught to pursue in our modern culture.  If we could grasp this nugget, and apply it, we could be FREE of so much bondage.

Bondage

Is achieving the “American Dream” the pursuit of true wealth?  Will you come to the end of your life and realize you were mislead? Will you realize you spent your life in bondage and were never truly free?

What does vanity mean?

van·i·ty
1. lack of real value; hollowness; worthlessness
2. something worthless, trivial, or pointless.
3. excessive pride in one’s appearance, qualities, abilities, achievements, etc.; character or quality of being vain; conceit:
4. an instance or display of this quality or feeling.
5. something about which one is vain or excessively proud

(quote from online dictionary)

So vanity is WORTHLESSNESS and Shelfishness and Pride.  Vanity is pride in one’s acheivements that actually result in a bound hollow pointless life.  It is worth less than what it boasts and pretends because it is an exaggeration of value. Vanity is the opposite pursuit of true wealth.

According the wisest and richest man who ever lived, wealth is not equivalent to things.   He said pursuit of things is bondage of spirit, like putting a curse upon one’s life, and is a vain pursuit that will result in nothing.

A person only needs what he can carry in his own hands to help him eat, drink, and enjoy his family and have joy in his work. All else is vanity in this world.

“Increase in wealth” should not also mean “increase in things”.  You can truly be wealthy and happy without stuff!

In modern society we are falsely shown that wealth equals owning a big house(s) or nice appartment in an expensive neighborhood, expensive cars, fancy trips and vacations, expensive clothes, college degree (s),  high ranking jobs that pay big incomes, expensive jewelry, eating at expensive restaurants, going to expensive sporting events and performances, etc.  It is all about having “things that represent riches”.

But will having a resume with a college degree, and work history of high paying incomes, owning a house in a nice neighborhood with two cars in the attached garage, a green manicured lawn, and money in the bank equal to a life of true wealth?  Is the abundance of things and money equal to real wealth?  Is riches the same as wealth?

This truth is free and will set you free!

Wealth is freedom from debt and bondage.

Wealth is freedom from competition.

Wealth is the ability to be happy and joyful and sleep without worry.

Wealth is freedom from people pleasing.

True wealth is being happy simply by being content with eating and drinking with family and friends and with the work you do, while you live in a place of the size that provides just what you need to live a simple life and the ability to share the abundance of the increase with others.

As I thought about these truths, I realized this nugget of truth that wealth is being FREE from vain pursuits, I felt as though I had discovered an amazing treasure.

Reducing possessions to a level that is “just what is needed” to happily work (not struggle or be discourage to earn a living) and eat (nutritious food) and drink (pure clean water) and sleep well (at peace) while you enjoy the company of family and friends in your community is real wisdom!  This should be the American dream and the pursuit of all of humanity.

The truth in the bible is free for everyone.  It shows us how to avoid living a vain worthless life.  Salvation is free for everyone too.  Jesus came to save everyone who calls on his name and accepts him as their savior and obeys him.  He told us to love God with all our heart and love our neighbor as we love our own self and share our abundance and meet their needs.  The bible also says that the Fear of the Lord is the beginning of all wisdom and that true wisdom is worth more than silver or gold.

There are nuggets of truth in the bible worth more than silver and gold and if you apply them you will live a life that is wealthy, blessed, and wise!
