Cursive Logic workbook is a 112 page, spiral bound, full color workbook with consumable pages.  It is double sided and contains both the teacher instructions and the student practice pages.

CursiveLogic is divided into 10 lessons.  Each lesson is designed to last for about a week and consists of short practice exercises that take about 10 – 20 minutes each.  If you wanted to go faster, it would take a student about 1 hour per day to complete 1 lesson per day. The course is flexible and you can go as fast or slow as your student needs.

The Webinar has the complete instructions for following the CursiveLogic method and will help you understand the layout and how to teach the course.  It takes a little less than an hour to watch the video.  Though it works best to watch the video with their student, parents can also watch the video by themselves and adequately teach this method to their student.  You will need high speed internet service and an internet connected device such as a computer, etc to view the Webinar.  Check the website for more information regarding methods taught and what devices you might have in your home that would be compatible to watch it from.

In the CursiveLogic Student Workbook, students learn the connection of letters right from the beginning of the course using a successfully proven multi-sensory approach.  Because it is multi-sensory, this method works for most learning styles. To master cursive writing, each lesson in CursiveLogic uses color, movement, verbal, and auditory tools called “Letter Shape, Shape Colors, Letter String, and Verbal Catch Phrase”.  In addition to learning the alphabet, students learn to write actual words and phrases from the first week and will have mastered cursive writing of phrases and paragraphs with all 26 upper and lower case letters by the end of the course.

CursiveLogic teaches 4 basic shapes that make up the cursive letters of the English alphabet.  CursiveLogic teaches a patented color coded string method for learning these letter shapes.  For example, each shape string has a color— such as ovals are colored orange.  Because the method is patented, I can’t go into further detail on it.  You can see an example of the Orange Oval letter sting on the picture below.  Cursive writing is easy to master using this method.

Also contained in the workbook are three dry-erase surfaces that go back over all of CursiveLogic’s exercises.  Dry-erase pages enable students to practice and review again and again.  Additional helpful tips, and printable practice pages are available through the CursiveLogic newsletter and website.

For more details on the specific method taught in this course, please see the CursiveLogic website.

Our Experience:

This is our second time to write a review of products from CursiveLogic.  We reviewed the previous edition a couple of years ago with one of our older sons.

He was a reluctant writer prior to using the CursiveLogic book.  This method of writing seemed to unlock his potential and he blossomed.  He has enjoyed writing ever since he took this course.  He has the best handwriting skills of our entire family.

Not long after that, I was asked by the CursiveLogic company to participate in a group of families they had asked to look for errors in an upcoming edition and make suggestions to reduce the overall size of the workbook and condense ideas and make it even more user friendly.   We were sent a rough draft of the new edition which I looked over and used with my oldest son.  We emailed back and forth with the company on suggestions and they sent a copy of the hot of the press new addition.   Their staff is always friendly and helpful and it was a really good experience working with them.

Our Experience With CursiveLogic QuickStart Pack:

A few weeks ago, I was excited to be asked to write a new review the new edition of CursiveLogic Student Workbook.

I asked another one of my son’s if he would like to use the books we were sent as part of his daily coursework. Knowing how well the course worked for his older brothers, he happily agreed.  These boys (especially the second and third in line) are very competitive with each other and knowing that one brother has mastered a skill motivates another brother to want to master that skill too.

He was very motivated to work on the CursiveLogic student workbook each day.  He enjoyed the practice combination of tracing and writing and working at his own pace.  He learned to master cursive writing in just a few weeks.

Our experience with the Art of Cursive book:

When I first read about the concept of combining multi-sensory learning methods to teach cursive writing I was intrigued.   We enjoy art and the opportunity to combine art with writing sounded exciting.

My own children each learn differently, and though one method may work for one child, it doesn’t always work out the same for another.  So using multi-sensory methods can work better for every one in general.

However, my honest opinion about the Art of Cursive book is that though it includes lots of cursive writing practice, and it may be fun to practice cursive while you color,  I would not buy this book for myself or my family because of the spiritual significance of the artwork in the book.

Though I was excited about this new combined method of teaching in the beginning, I was very disappointed with the artwork.

The CursiveLogic company has created an amazing method and produced great teaching resources that I have enoyed using with several of my kids.  However, I have a completely different feeling about the art used in developing this coloring book.  So though I like the method, I don’t like the specific coloring book.  They incorporated their method of teaching by using a few condensed lessons and then writing out famous sayings by famous people that students can trace and rewrite on one side of each page.

However, the artist’s contribution on the other side of each page of the book incorporated those same famous quotes into pictures that represent things that are wicked and the spirit of antichrist.

The art in this book includes new age concepts that are attributed to other gods, moon goddess, other religions, Myan or Aztec pyramids (which is affiliated with human sacrifice) and Egyptian pyramids, portals into the layers of heaven and the firmament, portals in time, upside down heart, a phoenix, a serpent dragon, etc.  Can you see a theme?

My older kids have taken highschool courses about ancient religions and they recognized what had been done with the art in this book immediately upon looking through it.  It takes me a bit longer sometimes to see what is hidden in plain sight.  But upon closer examination the truth is right there in front of me.

Another thing that bothered me is that each of the famous quotes mentioned in the book, give credit to their authors and they are from various occupations such as politicians, inventors, artists, poets, etc and all but one quote is listed this way.

The specific quote listed differently that I am referring to about midway in the book and says:

“He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not lean when heat comes for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in years of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.”

This quote belonged to Jeremiah in the bible.  He was a prophet.  There is an entire book included in the bible about his life, what he had to say, what Father God told him to say and do, and historical events.  He is so significant that he is also mentioned in other books in the bible including Kings, Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Daniel and Matthew.  He is a very important man of God to both the Jews and Christians.

Here is what he said, the actual quote:

“Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.

For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”

Jeremiah 17:7-9 (KJV)

This is the only quote used in this coloring book that is from the bible, and yet they left out it’s author and the fact that it is a bible verse.  WHY?  The artist paired this quote up with a new age, wicked, twisted, serpentine looking “tree of life”.    WHY?

I focused on the bible verse to get through the review of this book.  But I must tell you my honest opinion.  The truth is when they published this book they chose to leave out who they quoted and where the verse came from, THE BIBLE.  WHY?

As I pondered the bigger meaning of all of this, I came to the conclusion that my family will not be participating any further with this coloring book, or any coloring book with these wicked antichrist themes.  The big question for myself and every Christian who loves and obeys Jesus Christ and loves and honors Father God is, or should be, “Is it beneficial to “relax and color” without regard to the images?” “Is this what Father God wants us to do?”

Final Thoughts:

CursiveLogic is a product that has worked well so far with three of our six kids.  They each learn differently yet the CursiveLogic methods have been easy for each of them to grasp.  When they completed their CursiveLogic workbook, they had mastered the skills of cursive handwriting.  I encourage others who are ready to teach their kids to write in cursive, to consider using the CursiveLogic Student Workbook.
